SYNOPSIS

Felicitas narrates the tragic love story of two young people torn by desire and duty, passion and guilt in times of bloody wars, the plague of yellow fever, and the runaway race towards social progress.

Buenos Aires 1862. At the age of fifteen, Felicitas Guerrero, the eldest daughter of a large family of the commercial bourgeoisie, unleashes intense passionate love in the romantic Enrique Ocampo, to whom she corresponds with equal favour.

The destiny of the young couple is thwarted when, in the framework of a patriarchal society, Felicitas' father gives her in marriage to the most affluent man in Argentina, Don Martin de Alzaga, 40 years older than the young woman, ignoring the pleas and the visceral rejection she expressed to the marriage. After a frustrated attempt to escape, Enrique Ocampo enlists in the Army and leaves for war against Paraguay, imposing a distance from the young woman, perhaps with the secret intention of forgetting or more likely seeking death.
